Day 7 of the Silk Road Tour - City Wall in Xi'an

China loved building city walls.  We enjoy climbing to the top and walking them.  They are usually somewhere around 300-500 years old.

Friends on the tour.  From the left, Linda and Kim Orton, Glen & Linnea Shaw, and Cherie and Mark Ponder.

Many couples take wedding photos on the walls.  It's fun to see them.

The Orton's and Shaw's rented bikes to ride on the wall.

Us with Rich & Dora Hunter, and Fran & Kurt Roberston.

Day 6 of Silk Road Tour - Market in Xi'an

We ended our day in the market.  We were brave with some friends and tried some street food.  Something made our tongues go numb, they use a strange spice.

These looked cool but weren't that great.  But it was a good time!

Day 6 - Silk Road Tour - Terra Cotta Warrior and Art Shop

Before we went to the Terra Cotta Warriors, our tour guide, Martin, took us to a shop that makes replicas and sells them.  They also make other wares.  They are very nice, and somewhat spendy.  It was very interesting to see how they do it.

These are fun photo op pieces.

The kiln where the pottery is cooked.

Some beautiful art pieces.

I thought the scary dragon would look nice on our porch!

They definitely love their Buddas.

Day 6 - Terra Cotta Warriors - Xi'an

We went to see the Terra Cotta Warriors.  These were made by a King to protect him when he died.  He was very afraid of death because he had killed so many people.  He obviously had thousands of people help make these.  When he was done he killed them because he didn't want others to know where he would be buried.

The workmanship on these are amazing.  Different faces and expressions, and they at one time were all lined up.  They're still excavating them.  They were discovered by a farmer.

There are 3 large excavation sites.
