Turpan - Day 3 of Silk Road Tour
This is the ancient city remains of Qocho. We walked among them. Someone found a rock that looked like a spearhead.
The man was playing music for us with his instrument. I don't know what it was called. It sounded old and traditional.
These are the Pachikili Grottos. Ancient pictures are painted on the inside. We climbed quite a few stairs to get here.
These pictures didn't upload in order unfortunately. But this is an old village called Tuyugou Valley village. We visited here and saw people still living as they did long ago, except having a few trucks and motorcycles. Women washed clothes in a small stream in the village.
A woman and her child. She lives in a small home on the street.
Back at the grottos.
I took a picture before I saw the sign that we aren't suppose to. This is one of the ancient drawings on the wall in the grottos.
At the grottos, another man was playing his instrument. Very fun to hear!
Our tour guide is telling us about these sites from the bus.
I had to add a picture of the type of toilets that are mostly used in China. We call them squatty potties or squatties. We have to use them at school teaching or whenever out visiting sites. We are always excited to find a western toilet, it makes our day! Fortunately our apartments have westerns (or I wouldn't have stayed here!).
This is a Muslim Mosque from years ago.
This is called Flaming Mountain.
This is back at the the Ochoco site.
Back at the Muslim Mosque.
