At the Nanjing Train Station waiting to take the bullet train! |
We went to the Nanjing train station for a trip to Shanghai. Our district is having District conference there, so we decided to make a long weekend trip and see some sites. The G train is very comfortable and we traveled the 200 miles in just 90 minutes. The train goes around 150 mph. It's very enjoyable.

We arrived at the Shanghai train station near the center of the city. A low and behold, an Apple sign to remind me of my brother who is a long time Apple Programmer. Yah....Apple! We hear that Apple is negotiating with Alibaba to make phone payments. Many here in China were excited to see the new iPhone 6 come out.
Many older Chinese buildings alongside newer buildings. We are enjoying the views and watching the people.
I thought these artworks of cut paper were interesting. The owl reminded me of my daughter, Nichole who loves owls these days.
Enjoying sites with our fellow China Teachers, Doran, Kathleen and Terri.
These buildings and gardens were built back in the Ming Dynasty around 1559. I'm pretty sure there's been a bit of restorative work done, but they're very cool!!!
This plaque is in the garden area and tells of the building during the Ming Dynasty.
We stayed in a very nice hotel, luxury compared to our apartments. This is the breakfast area down below our room several stories. It's indoors and is very nice! More hotel pictures below.
We spent a very fun day seeing the sites, a little wet, but a nice day.
This is the Bundt on the river.
We took a ferry across the river.
We're in the French Quarters in the Bundt.

Took a bus ride and went by this tall building, the Pearl. At night it's lit up beautifully.
Long lines to get in to go up in the Pearl. We passed.
The clouds obscure the tall buildings at times, it looks very mysterious.
This looks like a distribution of packages, like UPS. We love the system.
This is scaffolding all over the town that they use. Pretty amazing.
Shopping down the streets. It's quite unique.
Walking down the street we came across a beautiful temple. Lots of activity here.
We have had lots of chicken cut up with bones and skin. Here Scott learned how to ask for boneless chicken, and it was much like Kung Pow Chicken. We loved it. The soup was like Sweet & Sour Soup, it was delicious.
